ABSTRACT IMPLEMENTASION OF FOOT REFLEXOLOGY TO LOWER BLOOD PRESSURE OF PRE-HYPERTENSIONADULT MEN IN ADVENTIST UNIVERSITY OF INDONESIA Mursito Suarta Hutagalung NIM: 1351025 Hypertension has been recognized as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease and causes of death. Hypertension can be treated pharmacologically and nonpharmacologically. One of the non-pharmacological therapies is a foot reflexology massage that has a relaxing effect and lowers blood pressure. The purpose of this study is to find out the effectiveness foot reflexology massage toward blood pressure in pre-hypertension patients. The research method used was pre-experimental with one group pre and post-test design. The research sample was 20 boarding students of Universitas Advent Indonesia in 20-30 years old. This sample was chosen purposively sampling. The pre-test result showed that the mean score of systolic blood pressure is 131.60 mmHg and for diastolic is 83.65 mmHg. After the foot reflexology massage for 30 minutes the mean score of systolic blood pressure to be 121.55 mmHg and diastolic is 72.60 mmHg. The result of statistic by using paired t-test showed the declining of blood pressure systolic and diastolic significantly (a and it can be concluded that the foot reflexology massage can reduce the blood pressure systolic and diastolic in adult men with pre-hypertension. This thing can be a reference for all students especially nursing student to learn foot reflexology massage that can be used as nursing intervention in hypertensive patients. Further, this research result can be a rationale to be developed for future research to know the effectiveness of the reflexology in overcoming pain and sleep disorder.
