ABSTRACT THE INFLUENCE OF PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE, ETHOS OF WORK AND DISCIPLINE OF WORK ON TEACHER’S PERFORMANCE AT SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN EAST JAKARTA By : Melyani Purba The purpose of this research aimed to analyze the influence of professional competence, work ethos, and discipline to improve teachers performance at secondary schools in East Jakarta. This research was using descriptive method. The research was designed as survey research that explained the phenomenon (explanatory research) weather there was any of influence or none, between two or more variables and how it was influenced. The sample oin this study were Science teachers with 42 respondents. Data were collected by using questionnaire. Preparation of questionnaire carried out by using a Likert scale model. Data were analyzed using multiple regression and partial regression. The results showed that : (1) partial professional competence had shown a significant influence on the performance of Science teachers at secondary schools in East Jakarta amounted 23,3% (2) partial ethos of work had a significant influence on the performance of Science teachers at secondary schools in East Jakarta amounted 38,4% (3) partial discipline of work had a significant influence on the performance Science teachers at secondary schools in East Jakarta amounted to 53,7% (4) Professional competence, ethos of work and discipline of work simultaneously had a significant influence on the performance of Science teachers at secondary schools at East Jakarta amounted to 57,3% . Based on these findings, it is suggested to (1) The Principal have to optimize the teachers to improve their performance through good professionalism, ethos of work and discipline of work, (2) Department of Education (Government) was suggested more selective on teachers being employed whose performance is good, and give reward to the teachers who have good performance.
