ABSTRACT BODY MASS INDEX AND WAIST CIRCUMFERENCE RELATIONSHIP WITH BLOOD PRESSURE NURSING STUDENTS IN FACULTY OF NURSING BACHELOR PROGRAM IN UNIVERSITAS ADVENT INDONESIA Written By Harvest Patiwell Sagala Nim: 1551040 Overweight can cause elevated in blood pressure. Indicators of overweight can be determined by measurement of body mass index and waist circumference. The purpose of this research was to determine the relation between body mass index and waist circumference with blood pressure of nursing students. Methods: This research is an analytical type with cross-sectional design. The population of this study were male nursing students in the faculty of Nursing Universitas Advent Indonesia. A total of 70 respondent met the inclusion criteria, and signed the informed consent. The relationship of body mass index and waist circumference with blood pressure is used spearmen test. Result: The average of body mass index was overweight. The average of waist circumference was normal. The average of systolic and diastolic blood pressure was normal. The result of spearman test showed that there was a significant correlation between body mass index and waist circumference with systolic and diastolic blood pressure (p<0.05). Conclusion: The increase in body mass index and waist circumference may affect the blood pressure. Suggestion: Furtrer research can develop the same research in hypertension patients.
