ABSTRACT ACTIVE SMOKING RESPONSE IN REPRESENTING PICTORIAL HEALTH WARNING ON CIGARETTE PACKING IN KARYAWANGI VILLAGE FERSONYANSIA CITRANISTIN PELLO NIM: 1551005 Smoking behavior is still common in public places carried out by smokers. The government's efforts to make smokers aware of the dangers of smoking have been carried out. One of them is an effort to include Pictorial Health Warning on cigarette packaging and outdoor media. The purpose of this study was to determine the response of active smokers in addressing Pictorial Health Warning on cigarette packs in RT 02 RW 11 and RT 04 RW 10 Desa Karyawangi. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method. The data collected is in depth unstructured interviews. The population used in this study were smokers who were active smokers ranging in age from 21-45 years in RT 02 RW11 and RT 04 RW 10 Desa Karyawangi. The sample in this study amounted to 6 active smokers. The results of the study show that 1). Active smokers are horrified and scared after seeing the PHW listed on cigarette packs. 2). The efforts made by some informants were to stay away from association in the smoker's environment, live healthy, occupy themselves, suck candy as a substitute for cigarettes and reduce the amount of cigarette consumption per day. The rest do not make any effort. This is due to lack of knowledge. The results of this study suggest to conduct a health promotion business that is about the dangers of smoking and how to stop smoking.
