ABSTRACT LECTURER’S COMPETENCIES AND LEARNING MOTIVATION OF NURSING STUDENTS AT INDONESIA ADVENTIST UNIVERSITY Ayu Permata Sari Purba NIM: 1551034 This study is based on the importance of the lecturer’s competencies to cultivate and maintain the students learning motivation. The aim of this study was to obtain the descriptive of lecturer’s competencies who taught the nursing lessons and students learning motivation at faculty of nursing at Indonesia Adventist University. The study design used descriptive quantitative analytic using correlational design, with total sampling of 51 nursing students at second level in bachelor program. Instrument used in this study were two questionnaires which measured lecturer’s competencies (33 item questions) and students learning motivation (30 item questions). Data collected and analyzed using percentage calculation for lecturer’s competencies and students learning motivation. Analysing for correlation coefficient is using Pearson Product-Moment. Overall, lecturer’s competencies based on the calculation on the percentage is 77,53% and percentage of the students learning motivation is 82,7%. Through the program of Statistical Package for Social Sience ( SPSS ) 17 version was obtained correlation coefficient value of 0,483, with the significancy value of 0,000 (p-value<0,05). The result showed that the lecturers who taught the nursing lessons were having a good competencies and nursing students were having an axcellent learning motivation. Value of the correlation coeficient showed that the lecturer’s competencies and students learning motivation are having positive relationship with significantly.
