ABSTRACT PERCEPTION OF HYPERTENSION PATIENTS ON USE THE GENERIC DRUGS IN THE WORKING AREA OF HEALTH CENTER PARONGPONG KEC. PARONGPONG KAB. WEST BANDUNG At present the public knowledge about generic drugs to treat hypertension is still relatively low, this is due to the assumption from the public that generic drugs have lower quality than trademark products. Negative public perceptions of the effects of generic drugs on the body can result bad suggestions that will affect the healing experience in the community. The purpose of this study was to determine how perceptions of hypertensive patients in using generic drugs in reducing high blood pressure. The sample was taken by using the accidental sampling method to find out how the public perception of hypertension sufferers using generic drugs in reducing high blood pressure in the health work area in Parongpong, West Bandung. As many as 60 respondents were willing to voluntarily take part in this study. With demographic data: the average age of respondents is 46-50 years (24.9%), elementary / equivalent education (83.3%), IRT employment status (75.0%), earning income> 1 million / month (78, 3%), doing physical activities 1x / week (46.7%). have eating habits that are salty and fatty (16.7%) and respondent's blood pressure 130 / 90mmHg (46.7%). The results showed that public perceptions about using the generic drugs in sufficient categories amounted to 93.3%, and the remainder in the good category. From data analysis using phi coefficient shows there is no significant relationship between work, income, physical activity, and habits with perception. However, education has a significant relationship with perception. For further research, it is necessary to compare the perceptions of hypertensive patients in using the generic drugs and patent drugs. Keywords: Perception, Hypertension Patients, Generic Drugs
