ABSTRACT Thesis Title : THEOLOGICAL ANALYSIS EFFECT OF THE SPIRITUAL TRAINING PROGRAM TO THE LIFE STYLE OF SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH YOUTH IN CENTRAL MANADO ACCORDING TO ROMANS 12:2 Nama Peneliti : Zepphy Tampubolon Nama dan Gelar : Magister Filsafat (M.Fil) Pembimbing Materi : Pdt. Dr. Alvin Hendriks, M.Min Tanggal Selesai : Adventist church is a church who emphasize that this church was established from the spirit of the young people. In every program or church meeting often mentioned that the young people is the pillars of the church in the future. Especially in Manado, the church youth was encouraged by the church member or the Pastor to keep active in every activity and evangelical meeting. Unfortunately, some of the youth indicating some ignorant attitude about spirituality and church service but show their worldly life style. Parallel with the willing of the parents to match the life style of their youth which is similar with the world, especially in Manado and Minahasa, where the majority is Christian, spesifically Seventh Day Adventist, some of the ministry or church create a training program for the youth, or youth evangelism meeting. One program which often exist is the Adventist youth program in every Sabbath afternoon which is also the program from General Conference, with one of their goal is to keep the young people from the world influence. An interview was held for the church elder, and the interview result is showed that there is 18 church elder declare they cannot distinguish which is the seventh day Adventist youth or none, and the aspect which is prominent from this young people was from the way their dress and their society. Some of the church elder also advise to make the youth training more often especially in the church and for the evangelism. The purpose for this research was: First, to understand the enthusiasm of the young people to involved the evangelism work in the church and willing to be trained for their new life style. Second, knowing the dominant indicator to give the positive effect for the young people to make the church can facilitate the youth to join every youth training program. Third, to know which back ground is dominant to contribute for every character changing so they can more active in evangelism and live according to His will. Fourth, to know how much the effect of the seminar training method that had followed by the youth in Manado Tengah Church especially in their life style and character, and Fifth, to complete the demand of the Post Graduate program from the Adventist University of Indonesia in obtaining Master degree. In the theoretical basis there are 11 (eleven) section, which is (1) Background to the Book of Romans, Background to Romans, Book of Romans, Place and Time of Writing of the Book of Romans, Purpose of the Book of Romans, Theme of the Book of Romans, Outline Romans,(2) Hermeneutics of the Romans 12:2,(3) Understanding of young people and the age range of young people according the world organization, (4) General understanding of the life style, which include the expert opinion, type of life style, including spiritual life style,(5) Meaning of Spirituality, (6) Life style in the bible including the picture of some biblical character in old testament which explain the story of Enoch, Abraham, and Daniel.(7) Life style of New testament character which is Jesus and the prophet, (8) understanding of Christian lifestyle according to the expert, (9) the Meaning of prayer (10) Opinion about read the bible according to the expert, (11) Picture of church as a training center. Central Manado is the region of the Manado city which have the large amount of the young people and more active in Manado. With the member which almost 200 people so it expected that they can be the role model to the other youth around them especially in evangelistic spirit. Besides, there many young people through the church organize the spiritual training program or revival meeting to train their youth fellow to have the spiritual life style. The author is interested in measuring the extent to which this potential is realized in their lives and in their ministry in the church, so that it is a barometer for services in other young people around them. Variables in this study include; X1, Concern of the Seventh day Adventist Church youth to preserve the way their dresses and society. X2, Effect of the spiritual training to the life of young people base on Romans 12:2. X3, To observe the effect of training with seminar method to the change of character according to the Romans 12:2. Y, Theological Analysis Effect of the spiritual training program to the lifestyle of the young people based on Romans 12:2 (endogenous variables). Total respondent which fill the questionnaire from number 1-20 are 124 people. Respondent profile include gender, age, educational background, job status, and position in church service. Analysis needed to know if the data analyze can be continued or not. Some of the data analyze technique demand the test analyze requirements. Variety analyze indicate that data was come from the population which have normal contribution and group that compared homogeny. Because of that, the variety analyze indicate validity test, reliability test, normality test, linearity test, hypotheses, and descriptive statistic. The result of this research can be conclude as, first, the concern level of seventh day Adventist youth to preserve their life style in the way they dress and society based Romans 12:2 is hesitate with grade 3.13. Second, the effect level of the spiritual training to the life changing of Adventist youth based on Romans 12:2 is hesitate with grade 3.27. Third, effect of the seminar method training the character changing of Adventist youth in central Manado based on Romans 12:2 was hesitate, with grade 3.13. The result of this research can give the motivation to the young people to be more active and organize the training program or involve and join that training also. According to the result that written, so researcher suggest to the young people in Central Manado: First, the young people need to remind and showed that they are Adventist youth and expected to become an example in the way their dress and interact. Researcher also suggest that every church can be a training facility to the young people to practice their spiritual life style which is decently and in order especially how they dress and interact. Second, we have to realize, care, and participate in the activities meeting that organize by the young people which had great influence to the other young people where it can trigger them to be active. Another suggestion for this problem was to evaluate the system or the training method which presented to the young people. It can be not biblical standard, or the program was fill with boring theory. The other thing to think is how to provide the energetic speaker which have spirit to embrace the young people, and also creative to challenge them to interact and realize how to have a blessing life. Third, researcher will invite friends to make a special team and propose the local church or youth organization so they can allow this team to make a training program or revival meeting for the young people so they can learn to have a spiritual life and evangelistic spirit. There is so important to let the training contain of practical or simple action so it can be easier to remember than the program which make the young people sit and listen and make them tired. Implication of this research was, focus on the young people which is the pillar of the church which expected to become the booster of the church. It can be a great problem in the church also when the situation of the young people when their life style is similar with the world. Truly is there also many young people which their life already far from the God and reluctant to involved in God’s work because of outside factor influence such as neighborhood or the influence of their close person. Jesus disciples also had join the training for about three and half years with their Great Master to prepare themselves to have the ministry life for the crowd. The Apostle Paul also emphasize in Romans 12:2 that should be a reform in character so we can understand God’s will. Jesus disciples also was transform after the training with Jesus and have the life style similar with Jesus. For the young people; let’s develop our relationship with God by surrender our life in pray, and also active with the spiritual activities and also involve in the spiritual training program that organize so we can transform also and finish the holy commandment of Jesus Christ. For the parents and leaders, presumably support the young people in the evangelism activity even there still young, but they need to be train, lead, and involved in every evangelistic program.
