ABSTRACT HEALTH PROMOTION TO KNOWLEDGE OF STUDENTS ABOUT SELF BREAST EXAMINATION AT ADVENTIST UNIVERSITY OF INDONESIA Maria Dolovika Nubrihas NIM: 1451014 The writing of this scientific work is based on the author's conversation with some female students at Adventist University of Indonesia with the conclusion that some students did not knew what and how to do breast self-examination (sadari) that serves to detect breast cancer early on. Carcinoma mamae or better known as Breast Cancer is one of the non-communicable diseases that are still a threat to public health, which is also one of the main causes of death for women around the world. Breast self-examination is one of the most inexpensive and easy methods to detect breast cancer early on. Thus, breast cancer that has been detect earlier can be deal immediately. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge before and after health promotion of breast self-examination done. This research uses pre experiment method with one group pre-test and post-test design. The sample used were the students of Mathematics Majors level 3 and 4 Faculty of Education Adventist University of Indonesia selected using saturated sampling technique. The instrument used was a questionnaire containing 14 items of questions with multiple choices answers. The results showed that there was a significant difference to the level of female student knowledge about breast selfexamination before and after given health promotion. The author hope that the results of this study used as baseline data to develop subsequent research such as the effect of age on knowledge level of breast self-examination.
