ABSTRACT GERONTIC NURSING ATTITUDE IN Mrs. R: DIABETES MELITUS WITH DEPRESSION USING TERAPEUTIC COMMUNICATION IN ADVENT HOSPITAL CARE ROOM BANDUNG Yanri Toy 1652023 Background: The aging process in the elderly is a process that results in changes including physical, psychological, and psychosocial changes. One of the most common health problems experienced by the elderly is depression. Outcomes: This paper aims to treat depression disorders in the elderly by implementing gerontik nursing care with the nursing process approach to Mrs. R with depression disorders through therapeutic communication. Methode: This paper is a descriptive case study with a single subject using a problem solving process. Data collection is done through observation, interviews, and physical examination by inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation. Nursing care for Mrs. is conducted on November 26 November- 30 November 2018. The results of the study found that the client had severe depression. Diagnose: Diagnosis that occurs in Mrs. R is a natural disturbance: depression, nutritional disorders less than needs, impaired sleep patterns, ineffective airway cleaning, gas exchange damage, physical mobility barriers Planning is structured according to the client's nursing problems. After implementation according to the plan prepared in the nursing plan, all interventions can be applied in accordance with existing conditions. Conclusion: After treatment for 3 days, Mrs. R problem partially resolved. Evaluation results indicate that the implementation provided can be completed in accordance with the objectives made. Therefore, it is recommended that therapeutic communication techniques should be carried out by nurses to help clients from problems. Keywords: Depression, Elderly, Therapeutic Communication.
