ABSTRACT COPING MECHANISM RELATIONSHIP ON THE LEVEL OF ANXIETY IN PATIENTS HIV/AIDS IN THE DISTRICT WEST BANDUNG Dewi Nur Komala Ningsih 1251036 This research is motivated by the increasing cases of HIV / AIDS from year to year in West Bandung regency and know that HIV infection is still unaccounted for treatment. This leads to patients that do not have individual coping effectively will experience anxiety. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between coping mechanism against anxiety levels in people with HIV / AIDS in West Bandung regency. The method used in this research is descriptive correlation. The population used in this study of 40 people with HIV / AIDS in West Bandung regency. The results showed that the coping mechanisms in people with HIV / AIDS in West Bandung regency including adaptive coping with value - average number of respondents 18.6. The level of anxiety in patients with HIVAIDS in West Bandung regency including mild anxiety with value - average number of respondents 10.025. There was a low correlation between coping mechanisms at the level of anxiety with a value of 2.64 ttab 2,024 thit mean H0 rejected and Ha received with significant value at 95% confidence level α of 0.05. The results of this study are expected to inform the Group of West Bandung District Social Service in planning counseling related coping mechanisms of people living with HIV / AIDS in West Bandung regency. Nursing Profession field into resources in the development of nursing science-related coping mechanisms and levels of anxiety. Field of Education to improve the quality of the learning process, especially related to coping mechanisms and the level of anxiety in patients with HIV / AIDS. Field researchers to develop methods and different designs to find the cause and type of coping mechanism used by people with HIV / AIDS. Keywords: coping mechanism, anxiety levels, HIV/AIDS.
