ABSTRACT THESIS ABSTRACT : THE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH MEMBER MEMBERRS OF AREA 19 JAKARTA LOCAL CONFERENCE TOWARD THE LEADERSHIP OF THE CURCH PASTOR IN AREA 19 THE LOCAL CONFERENCE AS SPRITUAL LEADER BASED ON MATTHEW 23:1-3 The researcher : Puji Erikson Sigalingging Name and Degree : Master of Philosophy (M.FIL) Material Adviser : Pastor DR. RUDOLF WEINDRA SAGALA M.PTH Technical Adviser : Pastor DR. B.D. NAINGGOLAN, MPS Finished date : 22 APRIL 2019 Chapter one explains the core problem. The next chapter clarifies Matthew 23:1-3 as the theoretical based to connect the church pastor leadership as Gods grace where church members should respect church pastor for the Bible say. Church pastor as religious leader, role model who has integrity should have had trust and honor from church members. Chapter three elaborates the method of survey, chapter four explains the result of the survey and the last chapter gives summary of this research. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 12:28: And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps , administrators, varieties of tongues. God has set the leader and it is His gift. It’s not something we can achieve with specific method. God’s believer should believe that God has chosen church pastor, has allowed to lead even in the long way the church pastor has showed one two even more weaknesses of his leadership. In all who have been chosen to accomplish a work for God the human element is seen. Yet they have not been men of stereotyped habits and character, who wee satisfied to remain in that condition (Ellen G White, Act of Apostle chapter one page 292). Honoring leaders actually in the same time we are honoring God as our true leader. The same God who interferes to save His people continuously and endlessly. Ellen G White says: The Bible specifically teaches us to be cautious in accusing those whom God has chosen to act as His ambassadors. Apostle Peter in drawing down a group of sinful men said , “They are brave and monstrous in heart, and do not fear cursing all the noble, in the case of all the angels, despite their greater strength, and they said to God. “And Paul in his direction for those responsible for the trial said,” Do not accept accusation against a chief , unless there are two witnesses (1 Timothy 5:19). ”He who has given human beings a heavy responsibility as the leaders and teachers of His people will ask for accountability for the ways by which those people have treated His servants. We must respect those whom God has honored. The sentence imposed on self Miryam should be a place for everyone who surrenders to the nature of jealousy and murmur against those whom God has entrusted to His work. (Ellen G White, Act of Apostle chapter 1 page 461). Based on the above background and the result from the research of Jakarta local conference district 19 Adventist church members so the summary as follow: First, Respecting spiritual leaders by not carelessly cursing spiritual leaders in public shows respect for the leadership of pastors as spiritual leaders with integrity in district 19 Jakarta local conference based on Matthew 23:1-3. Second, the congregation still gives stand to support pastor’s leadership because they still think that God doesn’t always choose His worker from those people who have big talent but He also choose people who can work best in district 19 Jakarta local conference based on Matthew 23:1-3. Third, the congregation still believe and hold the principle of God’s word to respect spiritual leader because they think spiritual leader must be a person with integrity and honesty in serving at district 19 Jakarta local conference specifically and Adventist church members generally. The last, the congregation at district 19 Jakarta local conference still believe that leaders are God’s gift as the Bible says excluding all of human weaknesses because spiritual leader is the role model in serving, social relationship and loving people.
