ABSTRACT THE UNDERSTANDING OF ADVENTIST CHURCH MEMBERS’S AT PEKAN BELURAN, SANDAKAN, SABAH TOWARDS THE INFLUENCE OF SMALL GROUP ACTIVITIES TOWARDS THE GROWTH OF THE CHURCH BASED ACTS 2:42-47 Jamesrail Jamil @ Jaudi NIM: 1111032 In this research, the author examines the influence of a small group activities on the growth of church membership based group activities Acts 2: 42-47. The author make research on Seventh-day Adventists Church at Pekan Beluran, Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia. With that, this research is based on four main indicators; the first church’s activites Acts 2: 42-47, the definition of a small group with the aim to increase the membership growth, additional activities that can be done in small groups to increase the membership in church, the outcome of small group activities in promoting membership growth. Thus, most of the churches have understood the understanding of the small group activities, but still need to be practiced and motivation from pastor. Small group activities in Acts 2:42-47, there are seven activities that may increase the growth of church membership and this has been demonstrated from the apostles, namely (1) continue in the apostles’ teaching, (2) gathering, (3) unite, (4) helping hand, (5) same mindset, (6) eat together, and (7) Praise the name of God. The definition of a small group with aim to increase membership growth is a unified group of God's people gathered together to praise God and encourage one another, encourage one another in investigating the word of God, to apply it in everyday life and can be interpreted groups more than one but still a small amount. In addition, there are additional activities that can be done in small groups, namely, mutual aid, focus on God, making the vision and hold service plan, perform service out and in, need to be guided by someone who has a good knowledge of the Bible and has character the good one. Thus, the results of the activities of a small group that is, a small group that will grow, corroborated each other, the more faithful members and the number of members will increase. The results of this research conducted through questionnaires distributed to the congregation at Pekan Beluran, Sandakan, Sabah generate a data showed that the average (mean) of the respondents understand well and agree on the meaning of Acts 2: 42-47, the definition of a small group with aim to increase membership growth are already understand about this, additional activities that can be done in small groups, and the results of the activities of a small group. This research concludes understanding at Pekan Beluran congregation already understand well however, the practice of the church less practiced what they have believed for this and they need motivation and support of some shepherds.
