ABSTRACT Thesis Title : THE ANALYSIS OF THE UNDERSTANDING AND PERCEPTION CONGREGATION MEMBERS TOWARDS ELLEN G. WHITE WRITINGS AT GMAHK HUMEO ECHOES CEMPAKA MAS EAST JAKARTA BASED ON REVELATION 19:10 Researcher Name : Ronald Siagian Degree : Master Science of Philosophy Material advisor : Dr. Bartolomeus D. Nainggolan, MPS. Completion date : 2017 May In chapter one the researcher outlines the background of the thesis research problem. One of the twenty-eight doctrines of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the eighteenth doctrine, that the Seventh-day Adventist Church accepted Ellen G. White as a person who have the gift of prophecy. The author finds that there are members of the congregation who do not accept and doubt Ellen G. White as a prophet. Researchers also found that the lack of interest of members to discuss the writings contained in Ellen G. White's book. In chapter two, discussing about the theoretical basis underlying this research. The theory underlying this study is based on Revelation 19:10, in which it is explained that the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. The testimony of Jesus is given to man through the intermediaries of the prophets. Since the days of the Old and New Testaments, The gift of prophecy plays an important role in the delivery of God's message to man. At the end of the age of this gift is still valid and owned by Ellen G. White. Chapter three discussing about the research methods used to analyze the data. This research is conducted at GMAHK Humeo Echoes Cempaka Mas East Jakarta, using quantitative research method, to know how big the member congregation understanding on the importance of Spiritual gift, the importance of Spirit of prophecy, Ellen G. White, And interest of members in reading the writings of Ellen G. White. Data collection tool used in the form of a questionnaire by using Likert scale. Chapter 4 discusses the results of the study. The results show that there is a relationship between the congregational understanding of the writings of Ellen G. White in Revelation 19:10 on the importance of Spiritual gifts, the importance of the Spirit of prophecy, Ellen G. White as prophet, and the interest of the members in reading the writings of Ellen G White at GMAHK Cempaka Mas, with a moderate percentage of 68.2 percent. Chapter five constitute the conclusion of an analysis of field research and suggestions of applications that are useful for the building of the faith and spirituality of the congregation. The author hopes that the congregation is not only limited to the level of understanding, but more than that is the application in everyday life.
