ABSTRACT Thesis Title : UNDERSTANDING ANALYSIS OF BIBLICAL WORSHIP MUSIC RHYTHM BASED ON II CHRONICLES 5:13 TO THE PASTORS OF SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH JAKARTA CONFERENCE Researcher Name : Jayson H. Pardede Degree : Master of Philosophy (M.Fil.) Thesis Adviser : Dr. J.S. Peranginangin Completion date : May 2016 There are about 800 Bible verses about music that gives examples of worship to God. Most of the verse talks about how music is used in the worship of God, and there is also to Baal. But only a few of verses in connection with biblical principles regarding worship music. That many verses, actually proved that music is an important element in worship to God, so I am sure that music is an important thing, too. One other evidence why music is important, the increasing number of paradigms regarding worship that often make a lot of people are confused because of the "incomplete" understanding. That is the writer terms on this subject. Inners war or a conflict paradigm occurred among Adventists-even global-regarding to the matter of worship music. Sometimes it brings discord, and Satan is the one who benefited in this situation, if the split occurred only because of music matter. Actually it all happened because of the understanding that I would call "incomplete." Eisegesis often dominates rather than exegesis, in terms of delivering the music understanding by the presenter. It is quite interesting to writer, so in the execution of this thesis has taken the verse of II Chronicles 5:13. This verse were selected from among many other verses, because the verse has been declared the acceptance of God regarding worship music that conducted by King Solomon. Quite interesting, because through this literature review, we found that Solomon used whatever he had, in particular from his father, David, to carry out the grand majestic worship with heart-pleasing to God. Through exposition II Chronicles 5:13, stated that the meaning of the rhythm of the music is sincerity expressed through music, intended solely to the Lord by not prioritizing the rhythm used. In this situation the rhythm used is hard rhythms, that is literally and culturally appropriate at that time. It is true that "the best music in the ears of the Lord is music which dedicated with true love form heart, not the melody strings or the perfect play of musical instrument and the trained vocals that pleased God, but the melody of the heart." This matter of "heart" is the most important element in worship to God. These principle of worship should be used on the principle of worship music to God. Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDAC), also has a guide about music (music guidelines) for Adventists worldwide, the latest revised and approved at the General Conference on October 13, 2004. Ironically, it is rarely been used to be the guidance for Seventh-day Adventists for music service. Quantitative Research to the pastors of Jakarta Conference answered three limited identification of problems. The main problems that occur is absolutely the proper understanding. It was found that the level of awareness and music understanding of Seventh-day Adventists pastors in Jakarta Conference on biblical worship music and based on dominant background that influence and the Seventh-day Adventists Official Music Guidelines, for only 38.7 percent. Regarding with these music guidelines, It was found that all responden does not agree that these music guidelines has been socialized properly by the organization, specifically in Jakarta Conference. No wonder why Adventists difficult to have a better understanding about worship music. Proper understanding needs to be taken and submitted to ministers and even members of the congregation. Not quantity seminars that are needed, but the quality in accordance with the Bible and the writings of Ellen G. White, known as the spirit of prophecy. If we talk about music worship on behalf of the Seventh-day Adventists, it is a must that the largest portion to discussed are the content of music guidelines, it must be contextual as well as exegesis, not eisegesis. We can believe that if we discussed this topic properly, the Holy Spirit will work to convince the audience, and they will understand the real concept of worship music, which make the "cloud of agreement" was in the midst of those who praise the King of heaven.
