ABSTRACT LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF YOUNG ADOLESCENT ABOUT VULVA HYGIENE DURING MENSTRUATION BEFORE AFTER COUNSELING AT SMP ADVENT PARONGPONG Nirmaya Pa ID: 1451056 This study is based on the lack of knowledge of young adolescent about vulva hygiene during menstruation. Based on interview it shows that 3 out of 5 elementary students did not know about vulva hygiene during menstruation. This study aims to determine whether there is a significant difference between the knowledge of young adolescent about vulva hygiene during menstruation before and after counseling at SMP Advent Parongpong. The method used is pre experiment with one group pretest-posttest design. The sample used were 30 young female adolescent, selected by purposive sampling. The instrument used is multiple choice test with 15 items that have been tested for validation. The level of knowledge of young adolescent about vulva hygiene during menstruation before counseling are in good category and it increased afteer the counseling but still in good category. This study found that there is a significant difference between the level of knowledge of young adolescent about vulva hygiene during menstruation before and after counseling. Suggestions for principals and teachers, should be expected to often provide counseling and information on vulva hygiene during menstruation. For further research, it is expected that the results of this study can be use as a basis for developing research related to the implementation of vulva hygiene and the level of knowledge of young adolescent about the benefits of vulva hygiene.
