ABSTRACT TITLE : THE THEOLOGY ANALYSIS ABOUT PRAYING AND FASTING BASED ON ISAIAH 58 AND ITS APPLICATION IN SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIS CHURCH JL.SIMBOLON NO 6 PEMATANGSIANTAR NORTH SUMATERA MISSION Name : Siagian Roiman Degree : M.Fil Supervisor : Dr. Bartholomeus Diaz Nainggolan.,MPS School : Indonesia Adventist University Date Degree Awarded : April 24, 2015 The application of praying and fasting based on Isaiah 58 were misunderstood by many Christian denominations, whose practice out the means by only do not eat and do not drink without doing such a virtues. According to the background which is talking about the advantage of praying and fasting at the Jl. Simbolon no.6 SDA church Pematangsiantar in North Sumatera Mission, then the writer would like to identify the problem, such: 1. The church member of Seventh Day Adventist church of Simbolon street no.6 pematangsiantar, doing the praying and fasting only by do not eat and do not drink. 2. Some of the church member of Seventh Day Adventist Simbolon street no.6 Pematangsiantar, thought if they doing fasting by only do not eat and do not drink as they always did, that is enough and will delightfully God. 3. The church member of Seventh Day Adventist church Simbolon street no.6 pematangsiantar, do not realize that the better way of doing praying and fasting have to do the virtues aswell. 4. The church member of Sevent Day Adventist Simbolon street no.6 pematangsiantar, do not understand yet the purpose of the praying and fasting according t the will of God After searching out the bible conception of the praying and fasting according to Isaiah 58, then the writer found out the right way for doing this matter correctly that is by doing the act of love to God and others such, to open up the shackle of tyranny, a good social relationship, love, share your bread to the starve, share a lodging to the homeless one, and to dressing the unclothes people. The fasting of Israelite were not deign to the Lord because they are not helping other. That’s why He asked to open up our heart and house to those who need it. The true fasting according to God is by sharing our food to those hunger people, share a place to the homeless, and share the clothes for other. To analyze this case the writer used the descriptive analysis method. And as the participant or the object of this research are the church member of Jl. Simbolon no. 6 Church, at Pematangsiantar, in North Sumatera Mission. When the questionnaire distributed out, the writer found out the bible theological analysis of the praying and fasting according to Isaiah 58, and evaluated the applying qualification, and it is linear or getting a significant influence among the variables. Respondents answer out the question based on the praying and fasting , which is relation to God and Human and the score is 4.1428. This evaluation shows that the responden are agreed by doing a better praying and fasting that will lead up to make a good relationship between the human and God. The statements in this variable teach out the people to love each other as well, and acoring the questionare for 3.7740. This evaluation shows that the respondent agreed about praying and fasting caused a tied relation between human and God. The score interpret the respondents doubting about out the application of the true praying and fasting that would gratify the Lord. Another word say that the respondent did not performed the better way in order to doing a true praying and fasting as it should be. The statement in the variable about the application of the praying and fasting that would gladden other scoring this questionnaire about 3.4675. It means that the respondent relatively doubting the application of this matter that would create us become a lovely person by doing such a charity. And its scoring the questionnaire for 3.2415. shows that the respondent did not doing the charity as well in order to applying the true praying and fasting. It was concluded that the praying and fasting based on Isaiah 58 and due to the application evaluation of this matter at Simbolon street Seventh Day Adventist Church Pematangsiantar, in North Sumatera Mission which is scoring approximately 3.5999. Means that the respondent doubtingly the better application in doing praying and fasting as it should be according to Isaiah 58 and the application was not well done yet.
