ABSTRACT Thesis Title : PERCEPTION ANALYSIS OF CHURCH MEMBERS OF THE SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH IN THE REGION 13 JAKARTA CONFERENCE AND ITS SURROUNDINGS TOWARDS THE PASTOR'S WIFE INTEGRITY IN HER INVOLVEMENT IN SERVING THE CHURCH BASED ON THE PHILOSOPHY OF 1 TIMOTHY 3:11. Researcher Name : Saut Parulian Purba Degree : Magister Filsafat (M.Fil) Adviser : Pdt. DR. S. Hutagalung End Date : 22 April 2019 A Pastor's wife will be a church leader and servant; she will also be an example to her church members. The members of the church today are increasingly growing in wisdom and spirituality, so it is not surprising if church members become observers as well as the ministry of a pastor with his family. Moreover, the pastor's wife is often in the spotlight. A pastor's wife is required to always be faithful to accompany her husband in serving, be active, friendly, kind, and even become a mother for the members of the congregation. Therefore, the congregation often demands that the pastor's wife must meet their expectations. The role of a pastor's wife will greatly determine whether a pastor will success on his service or the opposite. The pastor's wife can be a very successful helper and a great blessing to her husband or a barrier and obstacle in his ministry. Some of pastor's works are very much dependent on his wife, for that a pastor's wife has a very important role in determining the success of their ministry with her husband. The phenomenon that appears in the congregation today is how the congregation sees that there is pastor and his family life that are contrary to the teachings and doctrines of the church. They found that there was also a Pastor and his wife who were not harmonious and thus affected their ministry. There is also a pastor's wife who likes to gossip, where every problem told by the church members disseminated immediately. Through an interview to two mothers who were members of the congregation, it was found that they had found a pastor's wife who could not keep a secret, there was also a pastor's wife who was more dominant than her husband, so that the husband (pastor) was controlled by his wife. Based on this phoneme, the author is interested in raising this issue to study. The limitations of the problem of this study are: First, It was identified that there was a pastor's wife in Region 13 of Jakarta Conference and Seventh-day Adventist Church who did not maintain her integrity as a respectable person. Second, it was identified that there was a pastor's wife who became a slanderer. Third, it was identified that there was a pastor's wife who could not control herself. Fourth, it was identified that a pastor's wife who cannot be trusted in everything. Furthermore, on the theoretical basis is described about: (1) Background to the Book of 1 Timothy: Recipient of Letter I Timothy; The theme of the book of 1 Timothy; The Purpose of Writing the Book of 1 Timothy; Author of 1 Timothy; Time of Writing 1 Timothy; Outline of 1 Timothy, (2) Hermeneutics of 1 Timothy 3:11, (3) Call of a Pastor's Wife, (4) Role of Pastor’s Wife in Churches, (5) Role of Pastor’s Wife in the Family, (6) Integrity of Pastor’s Wife in Services, (7) Pastor's Wife is a Respectable Person, (8) Pastor's Wife Should Not Be A Slanderer, (9) Pastor's Wife Must Be Able To Control Herself, (10) Pastor's Wife should be Trustworthy. The variables in this study ; First, the Pastor's Wife Should Keep Her Integrity as a Respectable Person, Second, the Pastor's Wife Should Not Be a Slanderer. Third, the Pastor's Wife Should Be Able to control herself. Fourth, the Pastor's Wife is someone who can be trusted in everything. The number of respondents who filled out the questionnaire from No. 1-20 were 163 people. Profile of respondents are gender, age, education status, marital status, and position in the congregation. The conclusions of this study are as follows: First: the statement of the Pastor's Wife, a respectable person, showed hesitant results with an average total score of 3.43, which meant that members of the congregation of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Region 13 of DKI Jakarta and surrounding areas understood about the Wife. Second: the statement of the Pastor's Wife should not be a slanderer with a doubtful result with an average total score of 3.27 which means that members of the GMU congregation in the region of DKI Jakarta and surrounding conferences have the concept of a Pastor's Wife not a slanderer, where the result says that many members of the congregation feel hesitant about this because they themselves see the attitude of a pastor's wife who does not reflect a wife of a servant of God. Third: Statement pastor’s wife should be able to control herself get a good result with an average total score of 3.59 which means that the views of members of the GMU congregation in the region of the DKI Jakarta Conference and its surroundings regarding the Pastor's wife should be able to control herself, they agree with that because as a wife of a minister, wife must be able to take care of everything concerning matters that need not be discussed. Fourth: the statement of the Pastor's wife should be trusted in all respects where the average results of the respondents agree with a total score of 3.6 which means that members of the SDA congregation in the region 13 of DKI Jakarta conferences and surrounding about the Pastor's Wife should be trusted in everything, they agree with that because as a wife of a pastor, the wife must be able to be a person who can express the hearts of church members who experience life's struggles. Based on these results, the authors give suggestions: First, it is necessary to motivate the pastors' wives in the region 13 of the DKI Jakarta and surrounding areas to maintain their integrity as respectable people through special meetings of the pastors' wives made by the DKI Conference. Make training and debriefing. Second, the pastor as leader in the church who has a wife must be aware, care and participate in the practice of service with his wife to advise and direct his wife not to become a slanderer. Third, it is necessary to remind pastors' wives in the region 13 of the DKI Jakarta and surrounding areas to be able to refrain from speaking bad things through seminars and training activities. Fourth, it is needed to make a program that involves pastors' wives more often and provide lessons on the importance of being a pastor's wife who can be trusted in everything. The implication of this study is the pastor’s wife does fifty percent of the ministry of a pastor. A pastor's wife is an important and very decisive part in all conditions and atmosphere of the progress of the work of the Lord in the church that they are pastoring. Congregations often expect and give high demands to the pastor's wife; they hope the pastor's wife can be a wise advisor, a role model in everything. The integrity of a pastor's wife in her involvement in serving the congregation is essential if her husband's service is successful. The pastor's family is always in the spotlight, as a spiritual leader, a priest and his wife can be role model in spiritual matters. The pastor's wife is a respectable person, not a slanderer, she must be able to control herself and be trusted in everything.
