ABSTRACT Title : THE ANALYSIS VIEWS OF PARENTS IN SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH KEDATON I ON THE USE OF RATTAN IN DISCIPLINING THE REBEL CHILDREN BASED ON PROVERBS 23:13-14. Name : Samuel Pardede Degree : M. Fil Supervisor : Dr.Bartholomeus Diaz N., MPS School : Indonesian Adventist University End Date : April 20, 2015 Child discipline is uneasy parent’s responsibility. More than man’s wisdom needed by parent on every step, so they can understand how to educate their children for useful life and happy life in this time, and for higher service and greater happiness in future. Acording to Proverb 23: 13-14 said: “Do not withhold discipline from your son,he will not die if you hit him with the rod. You beat him with the rod, but you save his life from the dead”. The Parent in The Seventh-day Adventist Church Kedaton I agree to discipline the rebel child with the rod, seen from the respondent’s answer score sum of 4,2218 and The Parent in The Seventh-day Adventist Church Kedaton I agree to apply the elemens of discipline in disciplining the child, thats seen from the respondent’s answer sum of 4,5290. The result of a research clarify that the influence of coefficients determination R2y(1,2)is 0,356. Itmeans that the application of the discipline elements and to discipline the rebel children with rod based on Proverbs 23:13-14 is able to influence the behavior of children 35,6%. Parents in the Seventh-day Adventist Church Kedaton I see that the use of the rod in the discipline of children as a symbol of corrective actions are conducted with wisdom and love. Parents must apply the elements of the discipline such as the purpose of discipline, rules, consider the children whose get discipline by their parent, parents as a trainer, pay attention to the method so children will be more obey the command of parent and obey the God's command. Parental discipline should not forget the biblical standard. God allows parents to use rattan in disciplining children to prevent children sin resulting in eternal death. When we provide discipline to children but it makes the children sinned with resentment in his heart the child fails to be saved from eternal death as a result of his sin.
