XMLABSTRACT Thesis Title : ANALYSIS OF THE SHEPHERD’S LEADERSHIP INFLUENCE ON SPRITUAL GROWTH OF SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTISTS CHURCH MEMBER IN DISTRICT 3 OF THE JAKARTA LOCAL CONFERENCE BASE ON MATTHEW 21:28. Hutabarat, M.Div Date of Completion :April, 22 2019 The primary role of the pastor has been repeatedly conveyed through sermons, seminars, book readings and direct interviews with several people. nevertheless, pastors as well as church members seemed to have misunderstood the mission and task of a shepherd that resulted in dissapointed for both parties. There is a need of better understanding regarding the role and responsibilities of the shepherds to help improve their ministry in the local church and provide greater satisfaction to the church members. The expectation of the church members is for their shepherd to lead them like Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd. First of all, the purpose of this writing and reseach is to let the many pastors around Jakarta Conference know the expectations of their flocks regarding their flock their role as shepherds and spreading the Good News. Secondly, this fact finding will provide some considerations to fellow co-shepherd as to the expectations of the better quality sermons, providing training as to the metodology of sharing the Gospel and conduct regular visitations of the church members. Thirdly, this research will seek to find out as to how many church members attend church services both in and out of the church. Fourth, to provide a number of recommendations to the readers the actual result of this research that are applicable to all the church members of the SDA Church at Jakarta Conference, particularly to those whose churches are around the territory of region 3. The basic foundations had been laid out in Matthew 21:28 regarding the task and duties of the local church pastors as viewed by the members of the SDA Church around Jakarta Conference, especially for those who are within the territory of Region 3. Human life full of uncertainties regarding their daily needs in the financial area, husband and wife relationship, rearing of children, occupations, diseases and other difficulties. The best service that a shepherd can render will not guarantee success if a person based it upon his own talents and abilities, except one follows the example given by Jesus Christ. He is the owner for the sheep and knows how to shepherd them. A good shepherd will gather the sheep into one flock so that it is easier to watch over them, for if they are scattered, it would be difficult to shepherd them. That is why they need to be gathered together as one flock. The main duty of a shepherd is to feed church members with the living word in accordance to their needs based on the word of God, though a number of the times a shepherd may not provide the actual needs of the church members. Another duty of shepherd is to visit them, though in reality it is still lacking. The technique is to take a random sampling of church members from the various local churches proportionally around the territory of region 3 of Jakarta Conference. This research will analyze the main duties of shepherd based on the context of Matthew 21:28 that will give the true picture of the local church shepherds. The spiritual quality that is being developed by the co-shepherds will reveal the true love of God indicated by their commitment in serving God’s work based on their calling. The collection of data will be based on questionnaires based on Likert scale model with rating data ranging from 1-5. The conclusion of this research is as following: First, the statistical results of the description effect services concluded that the word of God have an impact on the spirituality of church members. Second, the linearity test result had shown that the influence of visitation by the local pastors did not have great impact in comparison to the influence of the pastors that emphasized evangelism in winning souls for the kingdom of God. Third, the findings of the hypothesis test produce a value of 73.9%. it means there is a significant primary task of the pastors to bring be more faithful in the church to enhance the spirituality of church members that helped them to be more faithful ini attendance of church services based on the context of Matthew 21:28. Finally, the statistical description of the findings revealed that pastors must diligently visit their members, otherwise, they consider their pastor not doing their job.
