ABSTRACT COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF ALTMAN Z SCORE AND SPRINGATE TO KNOW THE RISK LEVEL OF COMPANY BANKRUPTCY Written by: Chrisdinan Natanael Pasaribu NIM:1232085 This study described and illustrated the company's performance in financial condition of the company, through the Altman Z-Score and Springate which determined the ability of both methods in predicting the condition of the company in comparing the results of both methods. This study used secondary data and subsector coal’s company listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange from the year 2010 - 2014 by purposive sampling method. By the obtained data, so the final results of this study shown the condition and performance of companies engaged in the coal sub-sector from 2010-2014 based on the Altman Z-Score and Springate also the results were classified in a good condition, towards bankruptcy and bankruptcy were depending on classification standards which is owned by the Altman Z-Score and Springate and based on the results of both methods will be compared through different test t-test in order to determine whether there were similarities or differences in these two methods. The results of this method that the sub-sector coal company in 2010-2014 with the Altman Z-Score was found that 5 companies in a good condition,2 companies in the state into bankruptcy, and 3 companies in a state of bankruptcy. While the method Springate found 6 companies in a healthy condition and 4 in a state of bankruptcy. And the results of the comparison between the two methods was both methods have differences.
