XMLABSTRACT Thesis Title : ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT OF THE LEADERSHIP OF THE CHURCH ELDER TOWARD THE SPIRITUAL GROWTH OF THE SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH MEMBERS OF THE AREA 8 OF THE JAKARTA CONFERENCE OF SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST BASED ON THE PHILOSOPHY OF 1 PETER 5:1-4. Name of Researcher : Rudianto Pasaribu Title : Master of Philisophy (M.Phil.) Advisor : DR. Rudolf. W. Sagala, MPTh DR. Stimson Hutagalung, M.Fil End Date : 12 April 2018 The elder is an important position in the effort of building the spirituality of the church members. In growing the spirituality of the church members, the elder is a pastor's partner, and is known as a spiritual leader. Becoming an elder is God's call, as it is written in the Elder Manual book. Therefore, as a person who has been called by God, his duties and responsibilities in the congregation are essential. The Church is an institution that is engaged in spirituality by keeping and nurturing of its church members. The church through the leadership of the congregation is responsible for the spiritual growth of all church members. The church must have a clear and firm attitude about the truth and look different from the lifestyle of the world. The elder as a leader must play his function in carrying out his duties and responsibilities. Each church is led by a priest of the congregation assigned by the Conference or the local Regions. The highest leader in the church is held by the pastor as the pastor of the church while an elder is also a Christian leader. Five Objectives of this study are first, so that members of the church members know clearly and broadly whether there is influence of the elders’ leadership on the spiritual growth of the curch members. Second, to provide understanding to members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church Region 8 of Jakarta Local Conference, on the responsibilities of the church leader in the spiritual growth of the church members. Third, to know the extent of the impact of the elder’s leadership on church members spiritual growth especially in Region 8 of Jakarta Local Conference. Fourth, to provide an understanding to the elders that their leadership has an impact on the spiritual growth of the church members. Fifth, to complete the final project and meet the requirements in completing the Post-Graduate Master of Philosophy program, in the Universitas Advent Indonesia (UNAI), Bandung. The description of the theoretical foundation describes (1) The Background of Peter: The Author of Peter, The Time of Writing Peter's Apostle, The Apostle Peter's Character, The Apostles of Peter, The Message In Peter's Letter, The Division Of The Article In The Letter 1 Peter, The Message 1 Peter 5: 1 -4. (2) Understanding of the Elder, Elder as a Good Shepherd, Elder as an Unsavailing Preserver, Elder as an Example in Speech and Action, Elder Has Discipline and Vision, Elder as a Coach Spiritual Gifts Member of the Church, Elder has a Humble Heart, Elder as an Arbitrary Counselor, Elder Wins back the Missing Members, (4) Framework for Thinking, and (5) Research Hypothesis. Based on the theoretical framework of the impact of the leadership of the church members leader on the spiritual growth of the members of Jakarta Local Conference Region 8 on the based on 1 Peter 5: 1-4 which has been surveyed based on literature review. Based on the literature survey, the authors make this framework of thinking is a summary of the results of research in chapter II consisting of three parts in providing views on: First: The congregational leaders ( Elders ) are elected but have not fully understood the duties and responsibilities as spiritual leaders in grazing. Second: There is still a lack of involvement of the elders in the home visit. Thirdly: Lack of understanding of the elders in training the spiritual gifts of members in Jakarta Local Conferences Region 8. This research uses descriptive analysis method, where the research will generate ideas, views and statements on the problems studied. The pattern of developing the relationship between exogeneous variables with endogenous variables based on constract development, as well as with moderator variables. Exegoneus variable with indicator as follows: X1 is Elder As Good Shepherd. X2 is Elder as a Nursery In Treatment. X3 is Elder as the Trainer Spiritual Gifts. The study population is a member of Jakarta Local Conference Region 8, consisting of Anggrek Church 50 people, Garuda Church 20 people, Muara Bahari Church 15 people, Nyiur Melambai Church 20 people, Pulomas Church 25 people, Tanjung Priok Church 30 people, Warakas Church 20 people and the total population is 180 people. Regarding the list of statements that have been presented in the form of several variables to make it easier to focus on existing statements will be more hit to the target. These statements are used for research concerning theological and sociological analysis of the church members understanding of the influence of the leadership of the church members on the spiritual growth of the members of the church members of the region 8 in Jakarta local conferences based on 1 Peter 5: 1-4 21 statements. The conclusion of this study is first, there is a strong relationship between the leadership of the church members and the spiritual growth of the members of the congregation as they carry out their duties and responsibilities in the church members in which the church congregates patiently to lead the church members. Secondly, there is an impact of church members involvement in the care of the spiritual growth of the church members in which the church members judges the leadership of the church members not to seek fame or sympathy for members. Third, there is a strong relationship between training the spiritual gifts of the members of the church members with the spiritual growth of the church members in which the church members judges understanding by training will awaken the church members how important their role in the church members. The suggestion that can be given from this research is that is given the understanding that the leadership of Adventist church in Region 8 of Jakarta Local Conference has an impact on the spiritual growth of the church, because in the results of this research it is seen that the application of the concept of church members leader in training spiritual gifts to spiritual growth lower than Understanding the concept of leadership of the church members in grazing toward spiritual growth and understanding the concept of leader as caretaker in the care of spiritual growth. The implication of this research is that each church is led by a church members pastor assigned by the Conference or the Local Territory. The highest leader in the church is held by the pastor as the pastor of the church. Yet, the elder is also a Christian leader. The church through the leadership of the church members is responsible for the spiritual growth of all church members. The church must have a clear and firm attitude about the truth and look different from the lifestyle of the world. As a person who has been called by God, his duties and responsibilities in the church members are essential.
