ABSTRACT COMPREHENSION OF HUAAN SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH ABOUT BESTOWING MONEY FOR WINE OR STRONG DRINK BASED ON DEUTORONOMY 14:26 Budi Supriyatna NIM: 151104 On this research, author examine the comprehension about the meaning of bestowing money as based on Deuteronomy 14:26, the meaning of wine, and the meaning of the word strong drink. The author emphasizing this research on Huaan Seventh day Adventist church Bandung. Author stand on the principle with three (3) indicator to study, which is: The meaning of bestowing the tithe, meaning of the wine and meaning word of strong drink. This research was divided into two (2) sections, which is the theoretical research and field research. The result from theoretical research explain that the comprehension, meaning of the word bestowing money for whatsoever thy soul desire, the comprehension meaning of the word wine, and the comprehension meaning of the word strong drink, refer to the tithe offering, especially second tithe, as mentioned in Deuteronomy 14:26. This research was including 3 parts which is: (1) Comprehension meaning of bestowing money for whatsoever thy soul desire based on Deutoronomy 14:26. Some scholars proclaim that the word bestow money are connected with the second tithe offering which in authentic language is Ma’ aser Sheni, and the word “bestow” or “Nathan” does not mean to spend the money but rather describe about to give something (gift), which is something consumable.(2) Comprehension meaning of wine. The scholars proclaimed that the word for wine is yayin, which identified the grape juice, and “Shekar” is sweet drink.(3)Comprehension meaning of strong drink are wine (Yayin:oinos) and “Shekar” not directly pointed to the strong drink. The result of field research which perform through a questionnaire and distribute it to the 40 church member of Huaan Seventh day Adventist church, Bandung, which contain of 20 item, produce a data which can conclude that the respondent had a good understanding in answering the questionnaire, but there is also church member which hesitate that based on Deuteronomy 14:26 we can use the tithe offering for another thing. So author need to explain first before distribute the questionnaire. Key words: Bestow money, Ma’aser Sheni, second tithe, Bestow, Nathan, Wine, Yayin, Oinos, and Shekar.
