ABSTRACT EXPERIENCES IN GIVING OFFERINGS OF THE CHURCH MEMBERS OF SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CURCH BUKIT KARMEL MANDALA, MEDAN, NORTH SUMATERA DURING THE ONLINE WORSHIP BASED ON DEUTERONOMY 16: 16B-17 Elisa Ade Chandra Simanjuntak NIM : 1711014 The main objective of this research is to find out the experience in giving offerings during online worship. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Sources of data in this study were obtained from informants or resource persons, namely several members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church (GMAHK) Bukit Karmel MandalaMedan, North Sumatra. The data collection technique used in this research is semi structured interview technique. The data collection technique was purposive sampling where the writer only interviewed those who were willing and had experience in giving offerings during online worship. The data collection model used in this study is the saturation model, where when the answers from the informants are the same, the research will stop. As a theoretical basis for this study, the author analyzes the worship experiences of the Israelites based on Deuteronomy 16:16, 17. It was found that the Israelites made offerings to God as a form of their worship to God and also as their gratitude to God. The giving of offerings in the New Testament (NT), aims to support the mission of the church ministry based on the same motivation as the Israelites in terms of giving offerings. The results of the study are as follows: (1) The congregation feels that offline worship is better, but due to conditions, online worship is also carried out; (2) The congregation realizes that this offering is an important thing for every follower of Jesus; (3) The obstacle encountered in giving offerings online was the lack of knowledge of some members of the local congregation on how to transfer money by means of an online application. In addition, the church has not been maximal in disseminating and handling this matter to the congregation, so that there are members of the congregation who do not give offerings; (4) Giving offerings offline is preferred by the congregation because it involves enjoyment in giving offerings, effectiveness, and also aspects of fellowship. At the end of this study, the authors provide suggestions that are deemed necessary to ensure that the congregation continues to make offerings even in times of a pandemic.
