XMLABSTRACT THE IMPACT OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY ON THE RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION PROCESS IN PT EFFICIENT ENGLISH SERVICES By: Zenyka Viedeyona Zebedeus The purpose of this research was to know the level of English Language Proficiency (ELP), how the recruitment process was conducted, how selection was conducted, and the impact of ELP on the recruitment and selection process in PT EFFICIENT ENGLISH SERVICES, located in Ratu Plaza Office Tower Lt. 30, Jl. Jend. Sudirman Kav. 9, Jakarta 10270. This research was conducted using the descriptive method, in which data was obtained by collecting and then analyzing to present a description about the research object. The collected data was analyzed using a linear regression analysis, Pearson Product Moment correlation coefficient analysis, significance test, and coefficient of determination analysis in order to obtain a conclusion. Data collection techniques include sending out validated questionnaires and interviewing the human resources manager of the company. The result showed that employees of PT EFFICIENT ENGLISH SERVICES had a very high level of ELP. Employees were able to communicate through the use of the English language when they speak, read, and write. PT EFFICIENT ENGLISH SERVICES had an outline of the recruitment process with eleven steps, and the selection process was conducted through computerized tests to measure ELP, in which the results were combined with the evaluation from interviews. Based on the linear regression and Pearson Product Moment statistical analysis, it was found that English Language Proficiency had a positive impact on both recruitment and selection. Through the Pearson Product Moment analysis, it was found that with r values of 0.174 and 0.482, ELP had a very low correlation with recruitment and moderate correlation with selection. Based on the significance test, it was found that for recruitment, tcount = 1.013 < ttable = 1.960, which meant that H0 was accepted and Ha was rejected, and that ELP did not have a significant impact on the recruitment process. For selection, however, the tcount = 3.162 > ttable value of1.960, which meant that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted, and that ELP did have a significant impact on the selection process. Based on the coefficient of determination analysis, ELP affected the recruitment process as much as 3%. The remaining 97% came from other factors. ELP affected the selection process as much as 23%. The remaining 77% came from other factors.
