ABSTRACT NURSING CARE FOR Mr. I.S WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER AT THE CLINIC OF ADVENTIST UNIVERSITY OF INDONESIA Radot Ganda Sinurat Nim: 1953074 Bipolar cases rarely in the clinic at the Adventist University of Indonesia. The prevalence of bipolar disorder increased from 6.1% in 2013 to 9.1% in 2018. Bipolar cases are often unknown and misdiagnosed, even not properly treated. People with bipolar disorder experience emotional disturbances, will injure themselves so that they are at risk of suicide. Purpose: This final scientific work aims to provide an overview of nursing care in bipolar patients. Method: The method used is a case study method. Results: The results of the case studies indicated that the patient's predisposing factor was withdrawal and the precipitating factor in the patient was the unpleasant treatment of others. The nursing diagnoses found were risk of violent behavior, deficit in self-care, social isolation: withdrawal, lack of knowledge and impaired skin integrity. Patients and families have taught how to control anger, interact with others gradually, perform self-care, and use drugs. The results after giving nursing care indicate that the patient has not been able to control anger independently, and has not been able to perform self-care independently. Families are able to know how to use drugs and self-care for patients at home. Regular use of drugs and follow-up care to RSJ are very important in the recovery of bipolar patients. Suggestion: take medication while at home and follow up to the RSJ to prevent the recurrence of the patient's bipolar disorder. Keywords: Bipolar Disorder, Nursing Care.
