ABSTRACT This thesis is motivated that heart disease is currently the biggest cause of death worldwide . High cholesterol is a major trigger of heart disease . Cholesterol less affected by the move , fatty foods , smoking , and stress . Many things that people do for lowering cholesterol one that is popular right now is eating garlic ( Allium sativum ) . The general objective of this research is to see the effect of garlic ( Allium sativum ) on blood total cholesterol in patients with hypercholesterolemia in Kampung Mokla Cihanjuang Rahayu village of West Bandung . The method used in this study are pre - experimental method with one group pretest posttest design . The population is resident in Kampung Mokla hypercholesterolemic patients Cihanjuang Rahayu village of West Bandung . The samples used were 10 people who were taken by purposive sampling . The instrument used is a measure cholesterol levels with the easy touch GCU brand . The results showed that pre- administration of garlic ( Allium sativum ) , a resident of hypercholesterolemia patients have borderline high cholesterol levels , then fell to normal after peberian garlic ( Allium sativum ) . There was a significant effect of administration of garlic ( Allium sativum ) on blood total cholesterol levels in patients hiperklesterolemia citizens . Advice to the Head of Nursing Health Center and Field is expected to be input to provide health promotion on the effect of garlic ( Allium sativum ) on blood total cholesterol hypercholesterolemia patients . For the field of research is expected that the results of this study can be used as a baseline to develop research on the effect of garlic ( Allium sativum ) on cholesterol levels severe hypercholesterolemia patients .
