ABSTRACT EFFECT OF CURCUMIN DOSING ON DECREASING PATTERN OF CHOLESTEROL LEVEL IN ALLOXAN-INDUCED WISTAR RATS Stephanus Setyawan Purnama 0941002 The content of cholesterol in people with diabetes, especially type - 1 diabetes, will increase along with the increase of glucose in blood plasma. This can cause a variety of problems associated with hypercholesterolemia. This research clarify the role of curcumin to decrease blood cholesterol levels. Alloxan-induced Wistar rats used as research subjects. Three different doses of curcumin used in the three treatment groups (300, 400, and 500 mg/kg, p.o.). One group was given only to eat and drink used as a negative control and one group induced by alloxan was given food and drink used as a positive control. The results of the study were tested using ANOVA and show that there is no significant difference in each treatment group with a significance value of α = 0.05. Keywords: Alloxan, Cholesterol, Curcumin, Wistar Rats
