ABSTRACT THE EFFECT OF MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS COSTS EQUIPMENT PRODUCTION QUANTITY OF DAMAGE PRODUCTS IN INDONESIAN PUBLISHING HOUSE By: FEREDERICK FABER SIMBOLON This study was conducted to determine the cost of maintenance and repair of production equipments, the quantity of defective products and the influence of the cost of maintenance and repair of production equipments to the quantity of defective products in Indonesia Publishing House. The method that used in this research is descriptive method, where data is collected based on fact, presented, analyzed and the result is taken. Data was collected with the study documentation. The data used is the cost of maintenance and repair of production equipments and the quantity of defective products in Indonesian Publishing House. Data analysis used in this study is the analysis of the correlation coefficient, a significant test, the coefficient of determination and analysis of linear regression analysis. From the results of the survey revealed that the cost of maintenance and repair production equipments in the Indonesian Publishing House per quarterly fluctuate from year 2012 and 2013. Magnitude of the cost of maintenance and repair of production equipments are highest in the third quarter of 2012 amounted to Rp.145,665,810.00 and the lowest occurred in the first quarter of 2012 amounting to Rp.40,746,550.00. Quantity of defective products also fluctuates per quarterly from 2012 and 2013. Increase in the quantity of defective products is highest in the third quarter of 2013 amounted to 101 728 books and the lowest occurred in the second quarter of 2013 as many as 23 941 books. Based on a statistical calculation of the correlation coefficient r = -0147 which shows the relationship of maintenance and repair production equipments against defective very low quantity of the product negatively. The regression equation to the equation Y = 38 545 - 0.00011X which shows that the cost of maintenance and repair of production equipments does not significantly influence the quantity of defective products in Indonesian Publishing House and the coefficient of determination of 8.82%, which means the cost of maintenance and repair tools contribute to the production of defective product quantity by 8.82% and the remaining 91.81% is caused by others factor outside of the research.
