ABSTRACT EFFECT OF MO (Moringa oleifera) POWDER LEAVES AFTER PROVISION OF POSTPRANDIAL GLUCOSE IN NORMOGLYCEMIC SUBJECT Brightness Tio Aprilyani NIM: 1141001 Diabetes has become on of the deadliest diseases in the world today. In line with the development of medicine, many people turn to simple treatments such as herbal or traditional medicine. Moringa oleifera (MO) commonly called Kelor leaves, is known to have excellent potential to supplement the nutritional needs of the body, and it contain flavonoids as component of a MO potential as an antidiabetic. This study aims to determine the impact of MO consumed after glucose intake on blood glucose profiles in subject normoglycemi. This research using oral glucose tolerance test with glucose intake dose of 1.75 g/kg BH up to 75 grams maximum. A total of 8 grams of powdered MO administered after glucose intake. The study participants consisted of 30 students selected by purposive sampling: age (20,3 ± 0,9 years old), gender (male), height (172,3 ± 6,1 cm), weight (23,8 ± 4,4 kg). The treatment group will be compared using Student’s t-test. Profile changes in blood glucose will be starting from the 0, 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes. Analysis of the data shows that there is the effect of leaf powder MO intake after given at 60, 90 and 120 minutes postprandial glucose. This study shows that MO leaf powder can significantly suppress the increase in blood glucose levels. Referring to the results that have been obtained then the leaves potential to be applied to the pharmaceutical industry to be an effective herbal medicine.
