Par j-ngan Tarbunan, D.Min. Novenber 29, 2006 Oblective: To reinvestigate the phrase "Spirit of Prophecy" in Revelation 19:10 comparlng its purpose with the purpose written by E11en G. White. Contents and Method: In this research, the researcher used bibliographical research. First, the researcher did this research i.n thirty two (32) books commenting or using the word "spirlt of prophecy". With the totaf of these books, nine (9) were written by an Adventist and the remains were written by non-Adventist. The purpose is to know what the exegesis of their spirit of prophecy is; and at the same time surunrize it to be the basis of research problem, Second, the researcher re-explains the word "spirit of prophecy" in Revelation 19:10. For this, the exposition. Its purpose is to know the purpose of spirit researcher explalned in an exegesis manner and of prophecy Biblically and making it real as the basrs for truth. Because Bibfe is the truth, it never gets wrong and cannot be tested by human being. As it was examined base on the Bible, Adventj-st clan believed that Ellen c. White had received a divine revelati-on through vision from God. Throughout her life, she received two thousand (2,000) dreams or visions. Non-Adventists have different point of view, this group never toucheci Ellen G. White writ j-ngs. But most of them admit that "spirit of prophecy,, is Splrit of God or Word of God. Somebociy said that ,,spirit of prophecy,, is Jesus Himseff, gospel, or teachings of Jesus. Others said that it is a proclaimer of truth for those who do not believe yet, judqment or testimony about earJ-y J-ife of Jesusr studying prophesy about Jesus represent .'spirit of prophecy". Some also differentiated "spirit of prophecy" with "gifis of prophecy", both are not the same . Bible encompasses that spirit of prophecy has a tight relation with Hofy Spirit. It means that spirit of prophecy is Hol-y Spirit itself, for the prophets who received gifts of prophecy, or writings about divine revelation, this includes Bi.ble. Eor gift of prophecy, it is not only used since the OId Testament and New Testament, but the gift wlIl contj-nue untll the last days. That is the manifestation of God that can be present to modern virtuous people (bd. Eph. 4:11-13; Jl.2:28-31; Acts 2:7,t-2).; Rev. 10:11). In Elfen c. Conclusion: Everybody agreed that "spirit of prophecy" IS Holy Spirit, true prophet of God and writings inspj-red by God, like Bible and Ellen c. White writings. But, it should be understood that Ellen G. White writings 1s not a Bible and wil,l never replace the Blble.
