EFIKASI KAYU MANIS (Cinnamomum burmannii) DALAM MENEKAN HIPERGLIKEMI POSTPRANDIAL YANG DIKONSUMSI SEBELUM ASUPAN GLUKOSA PADA DIABETESI TIPE 2

ABSTRACT EFFICACY OF CINNAMON (Cinnamomum burmannii) IN PRESSING POSTPRANDIAL HYPERGLYCEMIA CONSUMED BEFORE GLUCOSE INTAKE ON TYPE 2 DIABETES Duwi Oktaviani NIM: 1341018 This study based on the importance of blood sugar control which aims to see the effects of Cinnamon that consumed before the intake of glucose on diabetics. This point of view is based on the many experiments that proved the potential of Cinnamon to control blood sugar in diabetics. Cinnamon contains active compounds like Methyl Hydroxy Chalcone Polymer (MHCP) that can improve sensitivity of insulin receptor in the body against diebetes. This study was conducted to examine whether Cinnamon that consumed before the intake of glucose can affect postprandial blood glucose changes. The subjects of this study involved 60 diabetics patients. With the intake of 75 gr of glucose and 6 gr of Cinnamon powder in capsules. This study compares the significant value and the average from treatment and control groups. Postprandial blood glucose measured at minutes 0, 30, 60, 90, and 120 after the treatment. The results that obtained in minute-30 showed a significance difference (p=0.01; p<0,05), while in minute 0, 60, 90, and 120 did not show siginificants result.
