IMPROVING WRITING SKILLS OF THE SECOND YEAR MIDDLE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AT SMP NEGRI 1 PARONGPONG THROUGH THE WRITING OF DAILY JOURNAL

ABSTRACT This research is entitled "Improving Writing Skills of The Second Year Middle High School Students al SMP Negri I Parongpong Through The Writing of Daily Joumal". This research was divided into three stesps: giving pre-test, giving treament (writing daily joumal), and giving post-test. The result showed sipificant diftirence btween control and experimental group. Experimental participants was improved through the writing of daily joumal, and the score gained by participants showed that there was a significant efect of Writing Daily Joumal Strategy. The achievements showed that the mean differcnce of post-test scores between the two groups was -.45433 and for the standard error mean was .03840 (see Table 5, page 35) with pValuc .050, means that I1 is ac{Epted and fL is not accepted. It means, writing daily joumal is shong enough to imp,rove the students, q4iting skills. The researcher hopes that the study could give some contribution to the improvement on the teaching writing, especially for middle high school students.
