HUBUNGAN KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL DENGAN PRESTASI BELAJAR PADA SISWA KELAS XI SMAN I PARONGPONG

ABSTRACT RELATION EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AIID ACADEMIC ACHTEVEMENT AII{ONG GRADE ELEVEN STUDENTS OT SMA NEGERI l PARONGPONG The purpose of this study was carried out to observe relation emotional intelligence and academic achievement. The populations are grade eleven shrdents of SMA Negeri I Parongpong rr*iod 2008/2009. Descriptive methods was used for this study. The datas was taken by questionnaire and school grade from Ujian Tengah Semester (UTS). After analyzrA, the results shows: (l) Emotional lntelligence gives any significant and positive to academic achievement with o = 0.22 whether critical values r" : 0.11 < calculated r" value = 0.6 (2) Mean of emotional intelligence's indicator in good level was self motivation, in average level were conceive of consequence's emotion, emotion's control and emotion's recogrizing, in low level were conceive cause of emotion and influence other's emotion. (3) The contribution of emotional intelligence to academic achievement is 36%. The conclusion for this study was emotional intelligence is one of the factors to improve acadernic achievement of students.
