PREVALENSI KADAR GLUKOSA DARAH ANTARA RETENSI DAN TOLERANSI PADA MAHASISWA TINGKAT IV UNIVERSITAS ADVENT INDONESIA TAHUN MASUK 2OO7/2OO8

ABSTRACT Diabetes is one of the degenerative diseases, which is disease caused by function or structure of the body especially the work of the pancreas that progressively decreased fiom time to time due to age and lifestyle. WHO (World Heallh Organization) epidemiological study stated thal lndonesia is a country thal has the sequence of the three larges in the world. This research conducted descriptively to study on prevalence of rctention and tolerance levels of blood glucose after fasting and two hours after giving of glucose to the shrdent level IV, Adventist University of Indonesia. This research uses descriptive method with the method of random selection of subjects of study participants as much as fifty people. Done checking blood sugar fint research subjects fasted for l0 hours, and then later subjects were given of glucose solution into the drinking after two hours of back-checking done the second. Average values obtained (mean) rclention of subjects at 93.14 mg/dl and of tolerance for 128.14 mgidl. Results of normality tests showed abnormally distributed data" so as to further statistical tests used the Mann-Whitney and Chi-Square. The result of Mann-Whitney statistical test showed the value of Z -7.675 Which p,rovides significant value p : 0.000 (smaller than c:0.05) so that it can be concluded that there are differences in blood glucose levels between groups of data retention and blood glucose tolerance at student level IV Adventist University of [ndonesia, entered the year 200712008. The result of Chi-Square statistical test showed 7.2 value of 8.06 with significance value p = 0,045 (smaller than o: 0.05) so that it can be concluded that the proportion of classification of blood glucose levels (hypoglycemia, normal, pre-DM and DM) on student level IV Adventist University of Indonesia" entered the year 200712OO8 is not evenly distributed, that is for the retention of blood glucose, hypoglycemic 67o, normal 62%,32yo Pre DM, and DM 0%, u&ile for the blood glucose tolerance; hypoglycemic 07o, nornral 82 %o, pre DM 16%, andDMZYo.
