ABSTRACT THE UNDERSTANDING OF SDA CHURCH AT HUMBANG BARAT DISTRIC IN FOLLOWING THE WEDDING PARTY CEREMONY IN BATAK’S CULTURE ACCORDING TO ISAIAH 58:13 Erwin Donal Purba Nim: 1111021 By Writing this thesis is conducted by research about the parish’ understanding in following the wedding party of batak culture on sabbath day. The writer focused this research by analyzing 50 person member of Adventist church,namely to know how far the parish’ understanding about the theological of the sabbath,and the things that can be done or the thing that can not do at sabbath day and also abouth the wedding party on sabbath day according to batak’s culture. Through library research on the three indicators which discussed namely,Theology of the sabbath describe that sabbath is the evidence the the Lor is a Creator,Salvation,and Lord That cnsecrate the people.In the second indicator in sabbath day is the job is individualism to fulfil the requirement it’s cannot be daone.But If it’s the job about the soul salvation based on the love it’s can be done.Followed by the third indicator is the wedding party on bataknist at sabbath day,if it just to say congratulation it’s can be done on sabbath day but it’s not mean to follow the ceremony eventhough the worship from church have been over and eventhoug follow the ceremony just for a while),Because it’s mean that we apreciate the sabbath law according to Isaiah 58:13. The result of the quissioner that had devided, the writer got the data as follow: 1. Sabbath day is an enjoyable day to meet with The Lord without doing all your personal affair, without say gossip and unrespond with all that it’s mean the enjoyable sabbath day. 2. Doing something on sabbath day it’s must be based on holy bible whether that we do in sabbath day is the thing suitable the Lord’s command or maybe it’s become a disloyality to the Lord. Through research or from the book and also from the responder concluded that in the sabbath day is something according to the Lord’s mean. 3. Based the responder result of following the wedding party ceremony according to the batak’s culture is wrong and it’s unhonorable the sabbath. By the understanding of all the member of 50 responders to the positif statements is good and they respond with agreement, whereas the understanding of all the 50 responder about the negative statements is good where the member respon negative to the negative statement and they did not agree . even there is a member’s respon is very disagree. Namely about going to the wedding party on sabbath eventhoug just once it’s not problem.Based the result of the research, the writer concluded that the member of Sevent day Adventist church on Humbang Barat Distric in central sumatra mission is Sabbath Day is Sabbath and refuse to join the ceremony of wedding party on bataknist culture at sabbath day, whereas 25% of them still did not obey yet the law of Sabbath day.
