ABSTRACT DESIGN OF THE APPLICATION OF SELECTION OF NEW STUDENTS IN UNIVERSITAS ADVENT INDONESIA USING JOHN L. HOLLAND CAREER THEORY AND MYERS-BRIGGS TYPE INDICATOR WEB-BASED Robinsar Limbong NIM: 1481010 Students in senior high school already have plans for their favorite entering college, but which is often a constraint for them is, they are confused to choose major they will take when entering college. To help overcome the confusion they experience, the author offers a solution that is creating a system that can provide consideration or any suggestion to choose the best major for the freshman. As for the system created by using two theories namely career theory of John L. Holland, and the theory of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. The system is provided so that users are much more confident with courses that are recommended by the system. The results of this study indicate that 75% agree that the system has been user friendly, and 20% strongly agree, 60% show the system can give the information needs for users, and 35% very agreed, 40% said that the system helps users of choosing their major, and 45% strongly agree, 35% prospective students need this system, and 50% strongly agree. For testing the level of system accuracy, writer did by testing 20 randomly selected respondents, and it was found that 85% of respondents said the system had advocated the right course for them and 15% stated that the system had not given the direction of the department according to the respondents'. So the authors can give a conclusion that this system is required by prospective students because the system help users so much in getting information and choosing major. System also help the candidate students not to the wrong choices course of study in Universitas Advent Indonesia. Keywords: "Personality, Major, John L. Holland, MBTI, UNAI".
