The aims of this research is to compare shopping places which we.re selected by people on Sukajadi based on the knowledge of those people about Value Added Tax (VAT). The research method being used in this research is comparative reearch method that is to comparing. The techniques of data collection are by field research, and quesioner. Then the data processed and classified therefore the data can be compared. Based on the result of this research being conducted known that the knowledge of people of Sukajadi about VAT is 6l% where it can be classified as fairly good. From the list of VAT questions the highest score is about the amount of VAT, which were considered as they shopped at modern market by the amount of 1070. To assess the selection of shopping in the modem market by 60%, while the traditional market for 40%. It is because people prefer the comfort that can not be supplied by the traditional market and found in the modem market. For the interest of society based on knowledge of their shopping on the VAT on the dara obtained through a number of expenditures that can be seen that the traditional marke is higher compared to the modem market by 60% of faditional markets and modem market by 40%.
