ABSTRACT THEOLOGICAL UNDERSTANDING OF SERVICE WITH RESPECT AND FEAR BECAUSE GOD IS A CONSUMING FIRE BASED ON HEBREW 12: 28-29 IN SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH HUMEO ECHOS CEMPAKA MAS JAKARTA George Tampubolon NIM: 1311007 In this study the author examines the theological understanding of service with respect and fear because God is a consuming fire is based on Hebrews 12: 28.29 in the church of Seventh-day Adventist Church in North Jakarta. While this study focuses on the attitude of the people at the time of serving God in a way that God has set, people often profaned Him. This study is divided into two parts, the research studies and field theory, the result of theological theory research about respect and fear because God is a consuming fire is based on Hebrews 12: 28,29 is divided into four parts: First, understand the meaning of the word of worship, where the word can be interpreted as a worship service, but because the two words are synonym and allied but also own the same truth depends on the whole context and passage. Worship is meant services. second, an understanding of the word glory to God in the service, where people should be inspired in his presence that produce the best service and condescend to God. Third, understanding of the word fear of the Lord in the service is intended to make people submit and obey His law due to Fear of God is a part of repentance that sees the love of God through the Cross. Fourth, understand the words of our God is a consuming fire as two comparative statement of the events at Mount Sinai and Zion hill. Mount Sinai symbolizes the burnt offering and the priesthood whereas Zion hill is the reality of the eschatological hope which God destroying sin, but on the other hand These can be understood as the protection of God to His people. People nowadays is the people who lived in the days of the Zion hill, people do not come to a mountain that can’t be touched, because Jesus is the Mediator of the New Testament. The results of field research conducted through questionnaires distributed to the congregation in church Humeo Echos Cempaka Mas North Jakarta generate the average of the data respondent understands well to serve God, but the results of a study of P15 answered Hesitant with the statement not being matey to God, while the P36 has results do not agree with the statement Symbolism spirit of the Angels, depicting the court of God and the essence of the Divinity.
