DOES ROLE PLAY TECHNIQUE IMPROVE ENGLISH SPEAKING ABILITY OF GRADE XI STUDENTS?
XMLABSTRACT DOES ROLE PLAY TECHNIQUE IMPROVE ENGLISH SPEAKING ABILITY OF GRADE XI STUDENTS? Ruth Melissa Grace Panggabean NIM : 1521028 The purpose of this study is to find out whether the Role Play Technique could improve the Student’s Speaking skills, especially in grade XI. The study was conducted at SMAN 1 Cisarua, Bandung Barat, at grade XI Science-3 as the sample, consists of 34 students. This study is a pre-experimental. The students were given a pre-test and a post-test after having 16 hours treatment, which is 2 hours every meeting using the Role Play technique. After calculating the data, it was known that there is a significant difference after the treatment using the Role Play Technique in improving student’s speaking skills. Based on the interpretation of the data analyzed it was found that p-value is 0.000 (Sig.) ≤ α (0.05) then Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. The pre-test score is 42,08 % and the post-test score is 62,6 %. And the gain is 0,377. It is recommended to keep motivating the students to use the role-play properly in the future to improve their English speaking skills. Keywords : Speaking Skills, Role Play Technique
