A COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN CIRC (COOPERATIVE INTEGRATED READING AND COMPOSITION) AND IOC (INSIDE-OUTSIDE CIRCLE) TO ENHANCE STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION
XMLABSTRACT A COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN CIRC (COOPERATIVE INTEGRATED READING AND COMPOSITION) AND IOC (INSIDE-OUTSIDE CIRCLE) TO ENHANCE STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION Crismony Laradita Br Sinuhaji ID 1521015 The purpose of this study is to find out the improvement of students’ reading comprehension through CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) and IOC (Inside-Outside Circle) strategies. They were divided into two classes, one class read English passage using CIRC strategy and the other class read English passage using IOC strategy. This study was designed to find out the answer of the following question: Is there any significant difference in students’ reading comprehension improvement between those who are taught using CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) and those who are taught using IOC (Inside-Outside Circle) strategies? To reach the aim of this research, the researcher used quantitative research method and comparative design by using pre-test and post test. The instrument used for this study is reading comprehension test, which contained 30 questions and applyed it in SMPN 10 Cimahi. The result of this study showed that both classes improved in their reading comprehension. In addition, there is a significant difference between those who were taught CIRC and those who were taught IOC.
