ABSTRACT THE EFFECTIVENESS OF DIRECT METHOD TOWARDS VOCABULARY ENHANCEMENT OF FOURTH GRADERS Gok Asi Sihombing 1321019 The purpose of the study is to find out the enhancement of students vocabulary difference between those who are taught using Direct method and those who are taught using Conventional method. This study used quantitative research. It is shown that there is a significant difference on students’ vocabulary enhancement between those who were taught using Direct Method (DM) and those who were taught using Conventional Method. It can be seen from the pre-test score for Direct Method (DM) is 68.50 and the post-test is 78.28; meanwhile the pre-test for Conventional Method is 54.71 and the post-test is 63.62.
