ABSTRACT A THEOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF THE OF CHOICE AND DETERMINING IN EPHESIANS 1: 4,5 AT SEVENT-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH EKLESIA SEMARANG Kresna Adi Nugroho 1411009 In this study, we examine the understanding of the meaning of choosing and defining words based on Ephesians 1: 4,5. The author focuses this research at the congregation of Eklesia congregation, Semarang. Researchers have a basis with four indicators to be discussed: The meaning of God chooses and determines His people. The second indicator concerning the Foundation of God chooses and determines His people. The third indicator concerning the Goal of God chooses and determines His people. And the fourth indicator is about whether in Ephesians 1: 4,5 it supports Double Predestination? This research is divided into two parts, namely research theory and field research. The result of the theory research is the meaning of God choosing and determining His people. The foundation of God chooses and determines His people. The purpose of God chooses and determines His people. Does it support double Predestination in Ephesians 1: 4,5? This research includes 4 parts: (1) The meaning of God chooses and determines His people. Some scholars state that God has set some people to survive and the rest to destroy. (2) The foundation of God chooses and determines His people. Experts say that God's choice is not based on the prerequisite of human performance, but the nature of His mercy. (3) The purpose of God chooses and determines His people. Experts say that there are two purposes God chooses and determines His people that is the election for salvation and election for the purpose of sanctifying the people of God. (4) Does it support double Predestination in Ephesians 1: 4,5? According to experts there are also those who say that Ephesians 1: 4,5 teaches Double Predestination and there is also a claim that Double Predestination doctrine is also misleading. The results of field research conducted through questionnaires distributed to 30 members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Eklesia, Semarang, where the questionnaire contained 20 questions, yielded a data that can be concluded that respondents have a pretty good view on indicators one to three, but on the fourth indicator the respondents had a poor understanding of Dual Predestination Keywords: Selecting, Determining, Selection From The Start, Selection Before The World Is Made
