PENGALAMAN IBU DALAM PENANGANAN KEJANG DEMAM PERTAMA PADA BALITA DI KECAMATAN PARONGPONG KABUPATEN BANDUNG BARAT

ABSTRACT EXPERIENCE OF MOTHER IN HANDLING THE FIRST FEBRILE CONVULSION IN TODDLER IN PARONGPONG SUB-DISTRICT, WEST BANDUNG REGENCY Septiayu Tamba NIM : 1651030 Febrile convulsion in toddlers in 2012 totaled 2,220 children in the age range of 0-1 years old, while the age range of 1-4 year old totaled 5,696 children. This study aims to explore in depth the experience of mothers in the management of the first febrile convulsion before seeking treatment at Clinic of Universitas Advent Indonesia, Parongpong District. The research design used is descriptive phenomenology with purposivesampling technique which aims to understand the meaning and meaning of the mother's experience in handling febrile convulsion. In-depth interviews were conducted face-to-face using a semi-structured interview guide with open-ended questions. The results of interviews were recorded and field data taken during interviews. The data analysis technique uses the interpretation of Jhon W. Creswell's methodology to analyze the resulting transcript. Data were collected from 2 mothers who had experience handling febrile convulsion in children. There were five main categories found in the analysis results: disease understanding, focal stimulus, cognator, adaptive response, and self-concept. The five categories found are a description of the mother's experience in handling the first febrile convulsion. The results of the study can be concluded that the mother's ability to handle febrile convulsion is still not good enough, caused by panic and lack of knowledge regarding the first treatment of febrile convulsion. Mothers or families who have children with febrile seizures remain calm and do not panic when children experience febrile convulsion. Keywords : Fever Management, Mother’s Experience, Toddler.
