ABSTRACT THE ROLE OF CHRISTIAN COUNSELING TOWARDS CHARACTER BUILDING OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN SALEMBA ADVENTIST ACADEMY, JAKARTA, BASED ON THE THEOLOGY OF TITUS 2:6, 7A. Jeremy NIM: 1511005 The author conducts a research about the role of Christian counseling towards character building of high school students with theology of Titus 2:6, 7a as the base of investigation. The research conducted in the High School of Salemba Adventist Academy, Jakarta. The research has five main indicators, (1) the theology of Titus 2:6, 7a, (2) Christian counseling, (3) counseling at school, (4) character building, (5) the role of Christian counseling towards character building. The research is divided into two sections, theoretical research and field research. The results of theoretical research of five main indicators are (1) Titus was commissioned to counsel the youth so that they may be sober-minded in everything. The counseling here is referring to an oral activity, a person speaks to a person. Not only counselling with words, but also examples. (2) Christian counselling is a ministry that God entrusted to Pastor or a trained-church member. Christian counseling must be based on Bible and emphasizing God as the source of solution. (3) Counseling at school is a program to help students to developing their selfidentity, to help students that involved in youth’s misbehavior to repent and change. (4) The beginning of one’s conduct is in their mind. By the conduct one’s character can be known. So, mind is the beginning of the character building. (5) Environment situation is one of the most important factor of building or changing character. Counseling can be made as the environment situation in order to building or changing character. The counseling can be conducted by these four technique: attending, confrontation, spiritual, and supporting. Field research was conducted by spreading 40 questionnaires to students in the High School of Salemba Adventist Academy. Based on the filled questionnaires, it is interpreted that students have a good understanding about the five main indicators. The author suggests to optimizing the good situation by conducting a systematic and a sustainable counseling. Keyword: Counseling, Character building.
