The Corelation Between Students' Interest in English Movies and Their Listening Comprehension Capability

In language learning, the use of media is suggested. The media that is close to learners' life and interest is potential to be used. English movie is one of the media that can be used in language learning, especially listening comprehension practice. When people are watching movie, they are not merely watching to the picture but also listening to the dialogue that spoken. The purpose of this paper is to unveil, whether or not there is a correlation between students' interest in English movies and their listening comprehension. The participants of this study are 20 students' of English Major Education Department at Universitas Advent Indonesia. The data are gained by using a questionnaire and a listening comprehension test score. Based on the data analysis, it is found that English movies have a positive correlation to the students' listening comprehension. The correlation coefficient of the variables is 0, 566, higher than critical value for r at 5 percent level with degree of freedom n-2 (18), which is 0.440
