ABSTRACT PHILOSOPHICAL ANALYSIS UNDERSTANDING OF THE CHURCH MEMBER OF SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH OF CAWANG OF DKI CONFERENCE, JAKARTA. ON “SABBATH IS ONLY THE SHADOW THAT HAVE BEEN FULFILLED THROUGH JESUS” BASED ON COLOSSIANS 2:16,17 Arlens T. Lassy NIM: 1511026 In this survey, the author examines the understanding of the “the Sabbath is only a shadow that has been fulfilled through Jesus” based on Colossians 2:16,17. The author focuses the research on congregation of Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Cawang, DKI Conference, Jakarta. The survey is based on three main indicators, namely: understanding of the word “judge,” meaning of “Sabbath,” and meaning of “Sabbath is shadow.” Often there are people who don’t understand this so that understanding and practice related to keeping the Sabbath is not good. This study is divided into two parts, namely the study of the theory and field research. The results of theoretical research on Sabbath is only a shadow that has been fulfilled is divided into three parts, namely: First, the word “judge” which is used in Colossians 2:16,17 describes the condition of those who judge, ridicule, and lure other with Jews’ laws which are no longer valid. can be translated to “spiritual matured” but it does not eliminate the essence of the word perfect itself. Second, the word “Sabbath” in the Bible is not only refers to the weekly Sabbath but also to the feasts which are called Sabbaths. And the word “Sabbath” used by Paul refers to Jewish Feasts called Sabbaths. Third, the meaning of “The Sabbath is a shadow” is strong evidence that what Paul meant was feasts that are called Sabbaths. This can be proved by the understanding that these feasts were given only to the Jews, and those feasts were images that had been and would be fulfilled through Jesus. The results of field research conducted through a questionnaire distributed to congregation of SDA Cawang, DKI Conference, Jakarta. which is divided into three indicators, namely: understanding of the word judge, meaning of Sabbath, and meaning of the Sabbath is a shadow.
