ABSTRACT THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE SAPTAMARGA, BANDUNG, SEVENT-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH MEMBERS, CONCERNING THE USAGE OF BATAK TOBA MUSIC IN CHURCH BASED ON PSALM 150:4 Joshua Gracias NIM: 1511015 This study, examined the understanding of members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDAC) of Saptamarga, Bandung, conserning the use of Batak Toba musical instruments in the church. This research was divided into two parts, namely theoretical research and field research. The results of theoretical research is a review of the theory of Batak Toba musical instruments. Biblical explanation of the usege of Batak Toba musical instruments in the church. This study consists of 3 parts, namely: (1) Are the Batak Toba musical instruments compatible with Biblical musical instruments? (2) How is the view of the members of the Saptamarga SDA Church, Bandung regarding Batak Toba musical instruments? (3) Does the understanding of the Saptamarga SDA Church that Batak Toba musical instruments allowed used in the church? The results of field research conducted through questionnaires were distributed to 30 members of the Saptamarga SDA Church, Bandung, where the questionnaire contained 20 questions, resulting in a data that could be concluded that the respondents had good views on all indicators, but were lacking in terms of implementation. . Based on the theoretical conclusions and field conclusions, the authors conclude that the Batak Toba musical instrument can be used in the church.
