ABSTRACT The Understanding of SDA Parongpong Congregation Bandung about Usury to the Stranger based on Deuteronomy 23:20 Publius Marwanto NIM: 1311011 The research aims to find out about “the stranger”, “the concept about usury to the stranger”, the allowed stranger’s criteria”, “the present stranger” in Parongpong congregation. This research was specifically pointed to Parongpong congregation and has four indicators such as: (1) what does it mean about “the stranger” in Deuteronomy 23:20, (2) The concept of usury to the stranger, (3) The concept of the allowed stranger’s criteria, and (4) The present stranger. According to the research result, the researcher put 5 stranger understandings in Deuteronomy 23:20 such as: someone who is not one of them, not in one-line-faith; not one of the family members, not in bloodline; unknown person; and someone who is different citizenship, or Israelites also non-Israelitas. For the next, the result of the concept of usury for the stranger that the church members did not understand well yet. About the allowed stranger’s criteria was they were not allowed to give suffer to the poor, they also were not allowed to make an usury to the strenger who are in the problems, allowed not press the strangers, the strangers are not avoided or put them away. Stranger’s protection right are same with the indigenous and if they want to make an usury for the strangers, they do that in love. Then, the present strangers are that they are not in one-like-faith, not in bloodline, unknown person and someone who is different citizenship. Based on the research result that researcher conducted to Parongpong congregation, it was found that the congregation agreed with the statement that actually the stranger is someone who is not one of them, not in one-line-faith; not one of the family members, not in bloodline; unknown person; and someone who is different citizenship. And the mean score of questionnaire is 3.54. Thus, the congregation understands well what the stranger means here Keywords: Stranger, not in one-line-faith, not in bloodline, unknown
