ABSTRACT A THELOGICAL ANALYSIS OF UNEQUALLY YOKED COUPLE BASED ON 2 CHORINTIANS 6:14 IN SINDAR RAYA ADVENTIST CHUCRH, SIMALUNGUN, NORTH SUMATERA Olwan Bill Tamba NIM: 1211003 The purpose of this research is to find out a study about “unequally yoked couple’ in Sindar Raya Adventist Church, Simalungun and to know the spiritual application that can be practiced in the church members’ life. This research is pointed out especially to Sindar Raya church member, Simalungun. There are three indicators of this research such as: (1) the definition of unequally yoked couple; (2) unbelievers group; (3) the application of 2 Corinthians 6:14 in the physical life of Christians. This research is divided into two parts: theoretically research and field research. The theory research result is about the definition of unequally yoked couple that originated from the word Heterozugeo which means prohibition to combine two kind of different types within the same yoke that will experience an imbalance. Because of differences in nature, character, and responsibility and they are two things that should not be put together. Heterozugeo is a prohibition of merging believers and unbelievers in terms of nature and behavior. Relationships with unbeliever, who tend to bring believers away from God, should be kept away. The unbelievers are those who profess themselves as a Christian but deny the Christian’s life calling. Also, there are the unbelievers that are idol worshipers who know not God. Relationship with the unbelievers tends to bring the believers to paganism. The unequal couple in 2 Corinthians 6:14 is related and applied in the physical life of the Christian. However, the really forbidden thing is if the relationship brings the believers away from God, then this kind of relationship should be avoided. The only highly forbidden relationship with an unbeliever is marital relationships with unbelievers. The believers are forbidden to marry with unbelievers because it will lead to differences in behavior and responsibility within the family. That is why believers are advised not to seek unequally yoked couples because it is called an unbalanced partner. The field research result through questionnaire to 35 church members of Sindar Raya obtained the data that showed all the respondents understand well about the unequally yoked couple. The evidence is from the mean value is 4.28, even though some of them stated that they disagreed. The church members also understand well about the unbelievers group which the mean value of questionnaire is 4.07, even though some of them were doubt and disagreed. And in part of application of 2 Corinthians 6:14 in the physical life of the Christian, they understand well which the mean value is 4.25, even though some of them were doubt. The field research result that was conducted through questionnaire that was shared to 35 the Sindar Raya church members, where the questionnaire consisted of 29 statements and the data obtained can be concluded that the respondents have good understanding in answering the statement indicators given.
