ABSTRACT EXPERIENCES OF PARENTS ON PAIN MANAGEMENT IN BABY (0-12 MONTHS) POST IMMUNIZATION IN PUBLIC AREAS OF PARONGPONG PRIMARY HEALTH CARE Laurel Novalen Lenzun NIM: 1351015 This research is motivated by the observation to the mothers in one of the Primary Health Care during immunization where only a mother who participated in carrying or holding their baby directly while receiving immunization. In other words, there is no physical contact between mother and baby as the baby will receive immunization and will feel pain post immunization. The purpose of this study was to obtain an overview of experience of parents in making pain management before and after immunization to infants (0-12 months) after primary immunization. The method used in the preparation of this mini thesis with a qualitative approach. Technique of collecting data by interview. Interviews were conducted with six parents, the mothers, who have children infants (0-12 months) using purposive sampling has reached saturation. From the results of this study obtained data that the experience of parents to the management of post-immunization pain is good enough. Parents are willing to take infant immunization on schedule, unless the baby is sick. Post immunization, baby crying, grimacing in pain, fever even appear reddish around the injection area. Pain management for infants by parents is breastfeeding, compress the injection area immunization, and provide anesthetic drugs for pain relievers, fever-lowering drugs and ointments or topical creams. While the opinion of parents against immunization is very beneficial for the body’s immune. However, when the baby gets an injection for immunization, parents are always feel anxiety, concern and pity. However, parents are equipped with the experience of previous child immunization action, so that the knowledge of parents are getting well and truly to be applied to the next generation.
